Jan XI. starší was born in 1561.  Jan XI. starší's father was Jiøík starší "Václav" Dobrzenský z Dobrzenicz and his mother was Markéta Jestøibská z Riesenburka.  His paternal grandfather was Jan IX. Dobrzenský z Dobrzenicz and his paternal grandmother is Magdalena Chvalkovská z Hustíøan. He had six brothers and two sisters, named Zikmund mladší, Mikuláš VIII., Zdenìk V., Bernard III., Hertvik starší, Hertvik mladší, Magdalena and Anna. He had a half-sister named Eliška.  He died at the age of 63 on January 30th, 1624 in Chvalkovice.  He was buried in Chvalkovice.
