Rudolf was born on January 24th, 1706 in Jevinìves.  Rudolf's father was Václav Antonín Chotek z Chotkova a Vojnína and his mother was Marie Terezie Scheidlern, von.  His paternal grandparents were Vilém Chotek z Chotkova a Vojnína and Johanna Sabina Proy von Gaiselsperg und Fildtelstein. He had two brothers named Jan Karel and Václav.  He was the second oldest of the three children.  He died at the age of 65 on July 7th, 1771 in Wien.  He was buried in Veltrusy.
