Alberto I. was born on February 27th, 1347. Alberto I.'s father was Obizzo III. Este, d' and his mother was Lippa Ariosto. His paternal grandparents were Aldobrandino II. Este, d' and Alda Rangoni; his maternal grandfather is Giacomo Ariosto. He had two brothers and a sister, named Folco, Ugo and Constanza. He was the youngest of the four children. He had four half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Rinaldo II., Aldobrandino III., Niccolo II., Azzo, Beatrice, Alda and Alisia. He died at the age of 46 on July 30th, 1393.
