Chandrashekhar's father was Hanumantha Rao Naidu Vallabha and his mother was Laxmi Mani (Manamma) (Collur) Vallabha.  His paternal grandparents were Sri Vallabha Veera Venkata  Jeer Naidu Vallabha and Rangamma (Venkatamma) Vallabha. He had three brothers and seven sisters, named Prabhakar Rao, Madhukar Rao, Damodhar Rao, Susheela (Vallabha), Savithri Bai, Sunithi Bai, Thriguna Bai, Padma Bai (Vallabha), Prema Bai (Vallabha) and Thejasweni.  He is the tenth oldest of the eleven children.
