Thomas was born in 1877 in Correal.  Thomas' father was Bernard Haughey and his mother was Mary Geraghty.  His paternal grandparents were Daniel Haughey and Elizabeth Cronin. He had six brothers and four sisters, named Patrick, John, Martin, James, Daniel, Bernard, Annie, Hanoria, Molly and Delia.  He was the oldest of the eleven children.  He died at the age of 84 in 1961.
