Charles was born on January 7th, 1888 in Clooneen.  Charles' father was John Haughey and his mother is Ellen McCann.  His paternal grandparents were Daniel Haughey and Elizabeth Cronin. He had seven brothers and three sisters, named Patrick, James, Thomas, Daniel, John, Michael, Bernard, Mary, Bridget and Helena.  He was the second youngest of the eleven children.  He died at the age of 75 in 1963.
