Ramiro I was born in 1006.  Ramiro I's father was Sancho III (King of Navarre) and his mother was Mayor of Castile.  His paternal grandparents were García Sánchez II of Pamplona (King of Navarre) and Jimena Fernández of Cea. He had two brothers named Ferdinand I and García Sánchez III.  He was the oldest of the three known children.  He died at the age of 57 on May 8th, 1063.
