William's father was Mungo Noble and his mother was Mary Leslie.  His paternal grandfather was James Noble (of Glassdrummond). He had a brother and a sister, named Mungo and Letitia. He had two half-brothers and two half-sisters, named James, Jerome, Susanna and Jane.  He died in 1806.
