James was born in 1727.  James' father was Mungo Noble and his mother was Prudence Bredin.  His paternal grandfather was James Noble (of Glassdrummond). He had a brother and two sisters, named Jerome, Susanna and Jane. He had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named Mungo, William and Letitia.  He died at the age of 53 in 1780.
