Edward, known as The Confessor, was born in 1004. The Confessor's father was Ethelred II “The Unready” (King of England) and his mother was Emma of  Normandy.  His paternal grandparents were Edgar I “The Peaceful” (King of England) and Ælfthryth; his maternal grandparents were Richard I “The Fearless” (3rd Duke of Normandy) and Gonnor (Gunhilda)  de Crepon. He had a brother and a sister, named Alfred and Goda. He had two half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Ironside, Harthacnut, Ælfgifu and Gunhilda.  He died at the age of 62 in 1066.
