William I, known as Longsword, was born in 0893. Longsword's father was Rollo “The Ganger” Ragnvaldsson (1st Duke of Normandy) and his mother was Poppa of Bayeux.  He was an only child.  He died at the age of 49 on December 17th, 0942.
