William D'Oyly, Gent., second son of John D'Oyly, Esq. of Greenland House, co. Bucks (by Isabella Moore, aunt of Lord Williams of Thame,) founded this family.[634] —He flourished temp. Hen. VIII., and late in life married Margery, daughter of Matthew Abbington[635] of Berkshire, whose arms were, "Argent, on a bend gules three eagles displayed or." He settled at Hulcombe in Newington parish, co. Oxon., and made his will, being sick, April 1549; desires sepulture in Newington church; leaves his lands, called Skyrmottes and Bennetts, to his son Thomas, in reversion; and those called Tanners in Brockyndon, to his son Robert, whom he places in wardship to Margery his wife for twenty years; makes bequests to his four daughters; appoints his nephew John D'Oyly, Esq. of Greenland House, executor and trustee for his children; and leaves all the rest of his property, except the parsonage of Remners, to Margery his wife. He died, leaving his said wife surviving, and his will was proved, Nov. 1556, in the Prerogative Court of Canterbury.[636] By Margery Abbington he had issue,[637]
