Robert was born in 1563.  Robert's father was William Cecil (1st Baron Burghley) and his mother was Mildred Cooke.  His paternal grandparents were Richard Cecil (Courtier) and Jane Heckington. He had a sister named Anne.  He was the younger of the two children. He had a half-brother named Thomas.  He died at the age of 49 in 1612.
