John was born in January 1597 in Chickney, England.  John's father was Philemon Whale and his mother was Agnes Norwood (Whale).  His paternal grandparents were Richard Whale and Thomasine Northen (Whale); his maternal grandparents are <Unknown> and <Unknown>. He had four brothers and six sisters, named Jonas, Philemon, Henry, Whale, Susan, Anna, Sarah, Elizabeth, Margaret and Mary.  He was the fifth youngest of the eleven children.  He died at 5 months old on June 24th, 1597.
