Ruth's father was Robert  Norbert  Januszowski and her mother is Anna Łucja Dudek.  Her paternal grandparents are Jan Januszowski and Waleska Dudek; her maternal grandparents are Johan Dudek and Agnes Warwas. She had two brothers and three sisters, named Winfried, Reinhard, Gizela, Edeltraut and Maria. She had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Alfred and Lidia.
