Arthur's father was John Woodward and his mother was Ellen Conway. His paternal grandparents were Joseph Woodward and Maria Wynne. He had five brothers and a sister, named Herbert, Alfred, Joseph, Albert, Fred and Mary. He was the youngest of the seven children. He died at the age of 48 on August 7th, 1934 in Vancouver.²
