Peter's father was Richard Tomlinson and his mother was Annie Roberts. His paternal grandparents were Peter Bradley Tomlinson and Rachel Heyes. He had two brothers and a sister, named William, Richard and Edith. He was the oldest of the four children. He died at the age of 52 on March 14th, 1974.²
