Hilda's father was Peter Bradley Tomlinson and her mother was Rachel Heyes. Her paternal grandparents were Richard Tomlinson and Sarah Bradley. She had two brothers named John and Richard. She was the youngest of the three children. She died due to a childhood disease at 9 months old in July 1895 in Bolton.²
