Albert's father was John Ambrose Thomas and his mother was Elizabeth Roberts. He had a sister named Lillian.  He was the younger of the two children. He had three half-brothers and two half-sisters, named John, Leslie, William, (Ann) and Ellen.  He died at the age of 35 in December 1923 in Birkenhead.²
