Benjamin's father was Benjamin Stocks and his mother was Ann Peel. He had two brothers named Joseph and Joshua. He was the youngest of the three children. He had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named John, Jonathan and Ann. He died at the age of 89 in March 1904 in Fleetwood.
