His paternal grandparents were Solomon Mather and Mary (Mally) Grime; his maternal grandparents were Henry Smith and Betty Rigby. He had two brothers and five sisters, named James, Henry, Mary, Elizabeth, Susannah, Mary and Sarah. He was the second oldest of the eight children. He had a half-sister named Fanny. He died at the age of 58 on February 7th, 1901 in Massachusetts (MA). He was buried in February 1901 in Rhode Island (RI).Death Notes
