  John (2, g-son) was living with his grandmother Esther Thornley in 1891.  John's birth was registered in Wigan, and all others at Horwich.
  
  I*n 1901, John (11) is recorded as a son of John and Ellen
  
  In 1911, John was living at at 4 Fox Holes, Horwich (but not there in 1921)
  
  7 Jan 1915, John Mather (aged 25) of 4 Foxholes, Horwich Near Bolton joined the Lancashire Fusiliers (army) as a Private 302736.  He was 5'5" and 118 lbs. and a top set of false teeth and was a Baptist.
  
  26 Feb 1916, Army records show John Mather married Caroline E A Daubney at Bolton Holy Trinity.  There were no children. 
  
  15 Jan 1919, Private John Mather 302736 of the 12th Corps, Durham light Infantry of 1 Grace Street, Horwich, was demobolized
  
  In 1913, John and Caroline lived at 34 Penn Street
