Ellen was born in February 1891 in Horwich.¹

Birth Notes

Ellen's father was Thomas Mather and her mother was Ellen Close. Her paternal grandparents were John Mather and Esther Thornley. She had three brothers and two sisters, named John, Thomas, Stanley, Elsie and Gertrude. She was the second oldest of the six children. She died at the age of 1 in March 1892 in Bolton.¹
