Jane's father was Richard Mather and her mother was Jane Edge.  Her paternal grandparents were James Mather and Ann Riley. She had six brothers and five sisters, named Thomas, Robert, Richard, Mark, Joseph, John, Mary, Sarah, Alice, Ellen and Ivy.  She was the fifth oldest of the twelve children.  She died at the age of 1 in February 1882 in Bolton.  She was buried on February 23rd, 1882.
