Jane's father was (Ann) Mather and her mother was Sarah Jackson.  Henry Warburton and Mary (Mercy) Mather were her grandparents through her father's adoption. She had three brothers and four sisters, named Joseph, Peter, Jacob, Ann, Peggy, Alice and Reuben.  She was the second youngest of the eight children.
