James Mather

James was born in 1861 in Westhoughton.¹ James' father was Luke Southern and his mother was Betty Mather. His maternal grandparents were Charles Pennington and Martha Mather. He had a brother and three sisters, named George, Ellen, Ruth and Mary. He was the third oldest of the five children.
