John Thomas Mather and his mother was
Hannah Joynson. His paternal grandparents were
James Mather and
Elizabeth (Betsy) Broom. He had three brothers and a sister, named
Charles,
Ernest,
Fred and
Mary. He was the oldest of the five known children. He died as a war casualty, Killed in action during the Great War 1914-1918. , at the age of 35 on October 26th, 1917 in
France. He was buried about 1916 at
St. Michael (Gt. Lever).
