Harold was born on October 22nd, 1919 in Horwich.1 Harold's father was John Mather and his mother was Caroline Edith Annie Daubney. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Mather and Ellen Close. He had a brother and a sister, named John and Marjorie. He was the oldest of the three children.-
