Harold was born in 1885 in Halliwell and his baptism took place on July 29th, 1885 at the St. Matthew (Little Lever).1 2  Harold's father was Robert Mather and his mother was Jane Caldwell.  His paternal grandparents were Robert Mather and Mary Cunliffe. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Thomas, Paul, Sarah, Lily and Florence.  He was the second youngest of the six known children.  He died in December 1885 in Bolton.3
