Ellen Mather

Ellen was born in December 1847 in Sharples and her baptism took place on December 9th, 1847 at St. Paul's (Astley Bridge).¹²

Ellen's father was James Mather and her mother was Susanna (Susan) Whalley. Her paternal grandparents were Richard Mather and Hannah Knowles. She had seven brothers and three sisters, named William, James, Giles, Richard, Nathaniel, Fred, Lewis, Hannah, Alice and Rachel. She was the third oldest of the eleven children. She died at the age of 59 in 1906 in Little Bolton.¹
