Betty was born in 1851 in Middleton.1  Betty's father was David Mather and her mother was Ann Jaques.  Her paternal grandparents were Moses Mather and Nanny Buckley. She had a brother and two sisters, named James, Martha and Mary.  She was the third oldest of the four children.  She died at the age of 2 in 1853 in Middleton.1
