Some of the Mather descendants of James moved to Rock Ferry, Tranmere, Birkenhead for about 8 years around the same time as my family moved from Bolton to Tranmere, before moving back to Lancashire. However, there is no DNA or other evidence to suggest the two families are related.
James was a Taylor from Birch (an area 2 miles NW of Middleton, between Middleton and Heywood). Birch was shown on Leah's baptism.
29 Jun 1784, James Mather married Alice Colling(e) in Bury, and then lived in Middleton.
28 June 1831, James, Mather, Tailor od Middleton was buried at St Leonards, Middleton, aged 68.
