Betty was born in 1775 in Astley and her baptism took place on March 4th, 1775 at St. Mary-the-Virgin (Leigh).1  Betty's father was William Mather and her mother was Alice Aldcroft. She had two brothers and a sister, named Joseph, Edward and Sarah.  She was the oldest of the four children.



Betty's family with John Hulme

‌Betty and John were married in a religious ceremony on June 24th, 1798 in Eccles.2   The family line is yet to be completed.
