Alice Mather

Alice was born on September 8th, 1798 in Blackrod and her baptism took place on September 30th, 1798 at St. Katherine (B'rod).¹

Alice's father was John Mather and her mother was Ann Entwistle. Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Mather and Betty Bromiley. She had six brothers and two sisters, named Thomas, Nathan, John, George, James, Isaac, Mary and Betty. She was the seventh oldest of the nine children. She died at the age of 69 in May 1868 in Eccleston. Her burial was on May 21st, 1868 at St. Katherine (B'rod).²

General Notes
- Possible wife of Samuel Mather, who had sons Isaac, John, Samuel, Goerge and James (all the same names as Alice's nearest siblings). However, Samuel's wife Alice Mather was born in Turton.
  
  In 1841, Alice Boardman (40) was a farmer at Aspull with children James (15), John (14) and Rachael (11). Her neighbours were Matthew and Elizabeth Boardman (35 & 25) and their son John (2).
  
  30 Dec 1844, Alice Boardman, Widow and Farmer, daughter of John Mather, Farmer, married Andrew Morris, a widower.
  
  In 1851, Andrew and Alice Morris (54 & 53) are at Brow Houses, Blackrod with 3 lodgers including Alice's son John Boardman (23, farm labourer).
  
  In 1861, Alice Morris (62) and son James Boardman (35) were servants for James Stringfellow, a solicitor at Hestin, Charnock.
