Sarah was born in 1896 in Manchester.1  Sarah's father was Thomas Lee and her mother was Sarah Jane Mather. She had four brothers and two sisters, named Abraham, Joseph, Herbert, Samuel, Clara and Fanny.  She was the youngest of the seven known children.
