Margaret was born in 1836 at Toppings.1  Margaret's father was Edmund Holt and her mother was Mary Reynolds.  Her paternal grandparents were Benjamin Holt and Jane Kay. She had two brothers and a sister, named William, James and Mary.  She was the second oldest of the four children. She had a half-brother and a half-sister, named James and Elizabeth.
