Joseph was born on January 12th, 1911 in Darcy Lever.1  Joseph's father was Joseph Haslam and his mother was Mary Alice Barlow.  His maternal grandparents were John Nelson Barlow and Alice Hardman. He had five brothers and a sister, named Elizabeth, John, Fred, James, Walter and Edith.  He was the youngest of the seven children.



Joseph's family with Vesta Hassall

‌Joseph and Vesta were married in a religious ceremony in April 1933 in Bolton.2   They had a daughter named Eunice.
