Elizabeth was born in September 1919 in Lichfield.1  Elizabeth's father was Ernest Handford and her mother was Sarah Elizabeth Lee.  Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Handford and Eliza Woodford. She had three brothers and a sister, named Ernest, Frederick, Douglas and Joyce.  She died at the age of 73 in 1992.
