Mary was born in June 1863 in Edgworth and her baptism took place on June 26th, 1864 at St. Anne (Turton).^1 2

Mary's father was John Booth and her mother was Nancy Mather.  Her maternal grandparents were Edward Mather and Ann Brambley. She had two brothers and two sisters, named John, Benjamin, Rachell and Margaret.  She was the oldest of the five children.  She died at the age of 1 in March 1865 in Edgworth.¹
