Henry was born in 1797 in Westhoughton and his baptism took place on April 7th, 1797 at St. Bartholomew (Westhoughton).1  Henry's father was James Boardman and his mother was Catharine Mather.  His maternal grandparents were Ralph Mather and Elizabeth (Betty) Glover. He had a brother named Ralph.  He was the older of the two children. He had a half-brother named Robert.
