Rachel's father was David Atkinson and her mother was Sarah Wilkinson.  Her paternal grandparents were Robert Atkinson and Agnes Storey; her maternal grandparents were John Wilkinson and Dorothy Wilkinson. She had a brother and seven sisters, named Robert, Sarah, Isabel, Dorothy, Hannah, Margaret, Agnes and Elizabeth.  She was the oldest of the nine children.  She died at the age of 71 on November 17th, 1758 in Westmorland.  She was buried on November 20th, 1758 in Westmorland.²
