Frank was born on March 2nd, 1917 in Belmont.1  Frank's father was Frederick (Fred) Ashmore and his mother was Sarah Holland.  His paternal grandparents were James Ashmore and Betsy Barrow; his maternal grandparents were Samuel Holland and Mary Ellen Brownlow. He had two brothers and a sister, named Gerald, Ronald and Lily.  He was the youngest of the four children.  He died at the age of 74 on January 15th, 1992 in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.2
