Sarah was born on January 14th, 1918 in Everton and her baptism took place there on June 26th, 1918.1  Sarah's father was William Alfred George Atkins and her mother was Adelaide Tickle.  Her paternal grandparents were Charles Arthur Atkins and Albertina Amelia Lowe; her maternal grandparents were Charles Tickle and Sarah Poole. She had two brothers and two sisters, named John, Charles, Mabel and Alice.  She was the second oldest of the five children.
