Catherine was born in September 1845 in Parke County, Indiana.1   Catherine's father was Jeptha VanVickle and her mother was Jane Camper.  Her paternal grandparents were Absalum VanVickle and Elizabeth Duglar. She had three brothers and three sisters, named Thomas, John, Francis, Nancy, Maria and Margaret.  She was the second oldest of the seven children. She had two half-brothers named Alexander and Nathan.  She died at the age of 22 on May 17th, 1868 in Parke County, Indiana.  She was buried at the Hixon Cemetery, Mecca, Parke County, Indiana.1 1
