  • Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 13, 2006, at the Fairfax Presbyterian Church for Eva P. Trauernicht, Mound City, Missouri, formerly of Fairfax. Rev. Nancy Profit officiated. Interment was made in English Grove Cemetery under the direction of Schooler Funeral Home, Fairfax.
    Eva Perry (Thompson) Trauernicht entered this world on August 23, 1914, on a farm west of Fairfax. Her passing into God’s Perfect Love was May 9, 2006. Littleton Perry Thompson and Mary Emma (Shinaut) Thompson were her parents and she joined the family with two older sisters, Helen (Mrs. Robert Robinson) and Mary (Mrs. Donald Poe).
    
    She attended and graduated as valedictorian at a country school west of Fairfax, Irish Grove. After graduation she did what many young women of that era did, worked with various families with housework and child care until her marriage.
    
    St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, 1938, she was united in marriage with Vernon Fred Trauernicht and moved to his family farm east of Fairfax where she was his partner in every way of the actual farming operation in addition to the gardening, housework and tending the children born of their union. She lived there for 60 years until Vernon’s passing in 1998.
    
    The children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joy of their lives. Children born of their marriage are Alan Ray Trauernicht with his wife, Linda, Ann Lynn Markham and her husband, James, all of Rock Port, Missouri, and Vernon Lee Trauernicht and his wife, Janice, of Holt, Missouri.
    
    Then came the grandchildren. Scott is Ray’s son, Ann has two children, Dana and Matthew, and Lee has four, Sam, Molly, Kate and Patrick. Her life was further enriched by the addition of nine great-grandchildren, Ben, Adam (Ray), Steven, Laura, Justin, Nichole (Ann) Gabrielle, Taryn and Eva’s namesake, Lizzie-Elizabeth Perry, (Lee).
    
    She had very little time for additional activities during her working years but later she and Vernon served the church with great joy. She also enjoyed extensive traveling, a breakfast club, reading and most of all, just being with any member of her family and friends.
    
    From horses and houses with no electricity or running water, to men on the moon, computers, cell phones, what a great life she was privileged to live in. Memorials to the Fairfax Presbyterian Church or to the organization of the donor’s choice.
