William was born on July 4th, 1753 in Chester, Delaware, Pennsylvania, USA.1   William's father was William Reed and his mother was Jane Mitchell.  His paternal grandparents are Thomas Reed and Dolly Letson.  He was an only child.  He died at the age of 77 on May 14th, 1831 in Potts Grove, Northumberland, Pennsylvania, USA.  He was buried on May 16th, 1831 in Chillisquaque Cemetery.2 3
