Emma Blanche was born on January 4th, 1872 in Biggsville, Henderson, Illinois, USA.1 Emma Blanche's father was William Harvey McLain and her mother was Lydia Antoinette Whitcomb. Her paternal grandparents were John S. McLain and Elizabeth McCartney. She had five brothers and three sisters, named Horace E., Elmer Park, Frank W., Joseph Walter, Clyde Herbert, Mary Luella, Nettie Viola and Lottie Leora. She was the fourth youngest of the nine children. She died at the age of 59 in 1931 in Emerson, Mills, Iowa, USA. She was buried in Walnut Cemetery.-
