James Monroe was born in 1844 in Alabama, USA.1   James Monroe's father was Rev. Robert Davis and his mother was Zilpha Snow.  His paternal grandparents were William Davis and Martha Howard; his maternal grandparents are thomas snow and mary cynthia gooch. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Thomas J., Davis, Wiley, Jesse Tyre, Louisa Catherine, Nancy A., Martha and Mary "Polly".  He was the second youngest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 78 on January 9th, 1922 in Roswell, Chaves, New Mexico, USA.  He was buried in South Park Cemetery.1 1
