Sy Salim's father was Shohor Alhabsi and his mother was Sh Rokiah (Sh Kintan).  His paternal grandfather was Sy Ahmad (Tuan Muda); his maternal grandparents are Sy Ali AlAttas and Sh Zainab.  He has four brothers and three sisters, named Sy Kamaruzaman, Sy Shariman, Shahar, Sy Razali, Sh Khailah, Sh Kharsiah and Sh Katipah.
