Sy Muhammad's father was Sy Sulaiman and his mother is Sh Salmah.  His paternal grandfather was Tn Ngah and his paternal grandmother is <Unknown>; his maternal grandparents were Sy Zainal Abidin and <Unknown>.  He had three brothers and four sisters, named Sy Harun, Sy Jaafar, Sy Abd Aziz, Sh Fatimah, Sh Habsah, Sh Hasnah and Sh Noraini.
